Pieter de Villiers

Pieter de Villiers is a South African born entrepreneur who spent years in Silicon Valley with a passion for mobile and the empowerment it leads to. Pieter is also one of the youngest mobile industry veterans with over 14 years of experience in global telecoms, mobile messaging and mobile payments. In 2013 Pieter launched the SiMODiSA initiative; focused at accelerating start-up success for South African entrepreneurs.

Jason Goldberg

Jason co-founded Edge Growth with the mission of creating jobs by scaling ventures. He has also co-founded Vumela, a Venture Fund initially capitalised by The First Rand Group. Vumela makes investments in early stage, high growth firms. He later launched 10X-e, dedicated to helping successful founding teams Scale Up.

Matsi Modise

Matsi is Vice-Chairperson of SiMODiSA, an industry association whose mission is to accelerate entrepreneurship by collaborating with policy makers to enhance the success rate of high impact, high growth entrepreneurs. She is the founder of Furaha Afrika Holdings and sits on various boards including the Innovation Hub board and the Agrie-Vie Private Equity Fund Board of Advisory. Her experience ranges from Investment banking, enterprise development and building entrepreneurship ecosystems on the African continent.

Keet van Zyl

Keet is a Venture Catalyst with extensive high-growth investment experience. He co-founded growth equity fund manager; Knife Capital, to continue the active management of HBD’s South African portfolio of investments and raise third-party funds for growth equity investments. Other companies co-founded: AngelHub, Grindstone Accelerator, KNF Ventures.

Claire Busetti

Claire Busetti holds an MBA from the University of Witwatersrand, with 20 years of experience in private equity and investment banking. She is an investment committee member of London based Ariya Capital’s Sub-Saharan Clean Energy Fund and FirstRand’s Vumela Enterprise Development Fund. As a Senior Portfolio Manager at Eskom Pension & Provident Fund, Claire has listed equity investment experience and has extensive knowledge in venture capital and the funding of early-stage, high growth ventures.

Marcel Klaassen

Marcel holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science. He has several years’ experience in commercial banking and business support and is passionate about the role that technology can play in driving insightful new venture creation in South Africa. He is the current Executive Head of Growth for FNB Business Banking and is a member of the Banking Association of South Africa SME Committee and remains involved in several local entrepreneurial support initiatives.

Andile Khumalo

Andile Khumalo is the former Managing Director of POWER 98.7 and former COO of MSG Afrika. A Chartered Accountant by profession and a seasoned entrepreneur, deal maker and operator of growth businesses. Andile is the CEO of Brodkast and the founder of I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR, a platform that supports and mentors emerging entrepreneurs.

Tanya van Lill

Tanya van Lill joined SAVCA as CEO in March 2017, after a rewarding 10-year career at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) with her last role being Director of Academic Programmes where she also served on the Board of the Executive MBA Council (EMBAC), an international academic association that represents the Executive MBA industry.

Grace Mothusi

Grace Mothusi is a Senior Manager of Enterprise Marketing Large Enterprise, Public Sector and SDP Stakeholder Relations at MTN Business and was formerly, the Segment Marketing Manager Public Sector and Acting Senior Manager – SMME Marketing. She has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, having worked at the biggest telecoms companies in the country.

Llewellyn Ramsagar

Llewellyn Ramsagar is the General Manager for Enterprise Marketing at MTN Business SA. For two decades, Llewellyn has launched, grown and provided solutions for some of South Africa’s biggest brands in the FMCG, Pharma and Technology sectors. Although Llewellyn graduated from UKZN with a BSc. (hons) Medical Biochemistry, developing businesses has become part of his DNA.

Yusuf Randera-Rees

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of the Awethu Project. Co-Founded Awethu as a R60,000 business and has driven the creation of over 2000 jobs.
Previously worked in Equity Derivatives at Credit Suisse New York and Zurich, and is an Oxford Rhodes Scholar and Echoing Green Fellow.
